Paralympic Swimmer Visits Westlands!
Rebecca Redfern, Paralympic Swimmer Visits Westlands!
On Monday 27th June 2016, Westlands was visited by Paralympic hopeful, Rebecca Redfern. Rebeccca has been selected to represent Great Britain at the forthcoming Paralympics in Rio in September.
Rebecca qualified for the team at the Glasgow Trials earlier this year, where she set a new World Record for the 100 metres Breastroke event for S13 Swimmers (Partially Sighted). She is a former pupil of the school, and attended Nursery when she was younger.
Becky told the children she started swimming lessons at the age of 6 at Droitwich Leisure Centre and has been swimming for 10 years. She trains twice a day, most days, for a least two hours. Becky very kindly showed the children her GB Kit and Swimming Suit and let the children touch her medals. We are all hoping that she now goes on to win an Olympic Medal later this year.
Becky's visit has inspired us all and now we all believe that we can achieve our dreams if we really put our minds to it. Watch out for her race at the Paralympcis on 11th September!
