Autumn 1 & 2 - Digging into the Past!

Tuesday 10th September 2019

Archaeological Dig

Today, Year 3 learned about the role of archaeologists; that they are scientists who study artefacts - man-made objects that people have left behind.  Using our detective skills, we uncovered what the past left behind.....

After carefully brushing away the sand and excavating our finds, we will then research using various sources of information to find out what our artefacts are, and where in history they have come from!

This will kick start our topic looking into the Stone Age!

We will be reading 'Stone Age Boy', starting off by making predictions on what will happen in the text, and we will then be using the information in the story to help us find out what Stone Age life was like.  Using this, and the information which will find out from other sources (artefacts and non-fiction texts), we will be writing explanations texts to explain how Stone Age people lives.

Finally, we will then delve into both the Bronze and Iron Ages too.  Keep asking your children for updates on what they have been learning at school as they find out more about this interesting period of history!
