Our two classes in Year 3 are 3KD (Mrs Denby and Mrs Tibbetts) and 3GA (Miss Avery and Miss Shekells).
Homework will be set during the first week of every new half term and will be closely linked to class based learning. The children have been provided with homework books to complete their homework in order to encourage them to take care with their presentation. The homework will be topic based and will contain elements of Science, Maths and English, which are our core subjects. Homework is due in on the last Monday of every half term.
Spellings will be set on a Monday and tested the following Monday.
Children are expected to read as frequently as possible, although this need not be longer than 10 minutes at a time. Our school policy is to read at least 3 times every week and children will receive rewards after every fifth week to acknowledge their completion of home reading. Please sign your child's reading diary every time they read and add a short comment if you wish. The children will be given an opportunity to change their reading books on Tuesdays and Fridays.
The children will be taking part in PE lessons twice a week and some of these will be lead by PE specialists. Please could parents ensure that children have named PE kits in school at all times. We will then send the kits home at the end of each half term for washing.
PE days will be:
3KD - Thursday - Footie Bugs (outdoors)
Friday - hockey (outdoors)
3GA - Thursdays - Footie Bugs (outdoors)
Friday - dance (indoors)
Down the side of our page, there will be a new page for each theme, where you can see our Termly Curriculum Maps and some of the work we will be covering linking to the new National Curriculum. Our exciting topics this year will include:
*Secrets of the Stone Age
.... and many more!
